1088)  "The Art of Brewing Beer" Stamps, Swiss Post: A set of two Stamps depicting two varieties of Beer popular in Switzerland, issued by Swiss Post: Date of issue: 05.09.2019:

Swiss Post has issued a new set of two special stamps dedicated to "The Art of Brewing Beer" to coincide with the launch of "Chaswiler Dorfbier",  which was specially brewed by Daniel Keller and his wife Claudia for celebrating the 775th Anniversary of the Municipality of Deitingen in the district of Wasseramt in the canton of Solothum in Switzerland.

At the village fete the Kellers built a real system with a cooling and fermentation chamber - and had at hand bigger brew kettles, with a capacity of upto 250 litres at a time.

For Swiss Post, Zurich based designer - Dina Mory has presented the over 1000-year-old cultural asset on this two stamp set. These special stamps are a treat for all the different target groups, including beer lovers, stamp enthusiasts, collectors and philatelists. All the stamps are gummed and not self-adhesive - an important criterion for Stamp Collectors.

These new special stamps celebrate the craft of brewing as part of Switzerland's cultural heritage.

About The Art of Brewing Beer":

The Art of Brewing Beer is almost as old as human civilisation itself. Beer is an alcoholic, carbonated dring made of water, malted grain, yeast, hops and other ingredients, produced through the alcoholic fermentation process.

The origins of the Art of Brewing can be traced back to around 4,000 BC. Beer is rather popular in Switzerland today, with over 900 breweries catering to the local demand. This translates into Switzerland having one of the greatest concentrations of Breweries in the world. Presently, brewing one's own beer at home has become quite a hobby.

A Sheetlet (S) of 4 stamps of each of the two variants (totalling 8 Stamps)

The illustrations on the Sheetlet extend to show the Brew kettles and the raw materials - hops and wheat - depict the key elements of the 'Art of Brewing Beer'. The lager and dark beers and the two different beer glasses symbolise the numerous varieties of Swiss beers available.
