4035) A second visit to Malshej Ghat, Mountain Pass, Maharashtra, India: Date of visit: 19.07.2025:

Malshej Ghat is a mountain pass in the Western Ghats of Maharashtra, India, known for its scenic beauty and waterfalls, especially during the monsoon season. Malshej Ghat is a beautiful mountain pass in Maharashtra, offering a blend of natural beauty, historical sites, and adventurous activities, especially during the monsoon season.

Malshej Ghat is renowned for its lush greenery, majestic waterfalls, and serene lakes. The area comes alive during the monsoon (June-September) with numerous waterfalls and abundant greenery.

We visited Malshej Ghat yesterday (19.07.2025) in Jayant’s Skoda SUV. This was our second visit to the Malshej Ghats. The first one was quite some time ago when Chetali took us for a drive to the Malshej Ghat. What was amazing during that drive was that there were huge diversions that took us to two of the "Ashta Vinayak" Temples as well.

During yesterday's drive, at Alandi, the GOOGLE GPS  took us through narrow roads via small villages (instead of the regular Express Highway) which was quite taxing but Jayant handled the drive excellently. We then crossed several other points before hitting the Express Way.

An account of our Trip:

Upon reaching the Expressway, we stopped at a restaurant serving us traditional Maharashtrian Fare.

Jayant's mother ordered a Misal Pav and was quite surprised to see a huge "Thali" being brought to our table. This is what the Thali offers:

At Malshej Ghat:

Upon reaching the Ghat, we drove straight to the area where the huge waterfall gives every passing car a "thorough wash" We stopped at a roadside stall serving boiled and roasted "Bhuttas" (Corn). We settled for the boiled Bhuttas as roasting them would take time.

At the MTDC Resort:

The Sahyadri Hills have several rock formations that look like sleeping giants - men and women - and giant formations which look like they are in the process of waking up.

After the Duke's nose in Lonavala, we are constantly scouting the Sahyadri's for sleeping giants and Duke's noses:

We found this image of a rock formation which looked like the face of a French Man. Don't miss the mop of hair, the nose and the grim looking chin.

I have rotated this image to get a more realistic view.

We also discovered this Rock Formation which looks like the bald head of a man, with a small nose and an upturned chin.

We stopped at a place where there was a waterfall. One of the tourists consented to take our snaps:

We rounded off the trip with having lunch at an upscale restaurant called "Jeevan - The World of Veg.
