4000) Moon Sky - Raven, Canada: A $20 Coin presenting a mix of engraving, frostings and technologies, including the achromatic bas-relief effect that gives this Inuit legend of the flying raven’s a more tactile, embossed-like appearance: Date/Year of Coin issue: 2025:

The raven is one of the most common birds in  Canada’s Arctic region, and one of the few bird species that resides there year-round.

Benevolent creator and mischief maker, bringer of light and keeper of secrets: The Raven plays a central role in many Inuit legends. These stories are passed down to each new generation of artists and storytellers, inspiring them to create beautiful interpretations of these timeless tales, as seen on this 99.99% pure silver coin.

Developed in collaboration with Nunatsiavut artist Bronson Jacque, this coin’s Reverse design simultaneously honours the Raven of legends while presenting a new, original take: here, the engraved raven is a representation of our grounded selves, while the hologram-enhanced raven speaks to the power of storytelling and its ability to lift our creative spirits to new heights.

This coin is a reminder that we are more than what we show of ourselves, that we have a colourful world within, one that is capable of creating a light in the darkest of nights.

Features an inspiring, never-before-seen interpretation of the Raven.

The Silver Coin special features:

The story on this $20 (Twenty Dollars coin’s Reverse was developed in collaboration with Nunatsiavut artist Bronson Jacque, who presents a new interpretation of the traditional Raven figure of Inuit legends.

The Coin’s Reverse features a mix of engraving, frostings and technologies, including the achromatic bas-relief effect that gives the flying raven’s a more tactile, embossed-like appearance.

This is visual storytelling at its best. Developed in collaboration with a Nunatsiavut artist, this coin pays tribute to the Raven of Inuit legends while presenting a new, original take on this cultural figure.

Realistically depicted on the lower engraved portion of the design, a raven perched on a branch and surrounded by trees represents each of us, grounded in our sense of self.

The other, rendered in bas-relief, gleefully soars high into the sky upon realising they are Raven, Creator of Life

An achromatic hologram—a three-dimensional image created with nanotechnology-based imagining—softens the full moon’s features and captures its magnificent luminosity, while the aurora borealis dances in the night sky. Advanced nanotechnology allows us to create three-dimensional images in a spectrum of rainbow colours that transform a flat surface into a more dynamic, life-like scene.

The spectrum of colours seemingly shifts depending on the viewing angle, creating the illusion of motion as it illuminates the raven’s feathers.

The Obverse of the $20 (Twenty Dollars) Coin features the left facing effigy of Charles III by Canadian artist Steven Rosati.
