The four Gods of Wealth:

Fan Li 范蠡:

Fan Li is revered by merchants as a God of Wealth, known for his wisdom and wealth.

Fan Li was a famous politician, military strategist and businessman during China's Spring and Autumn Period. He is best known for helping Emperor Goujian of Yue defeat the State of Wu.

Fearing that his success might lead to death threats, Fan Li chose to retire and began engaging in business. His commercial strategies were incredibly successful, making him one of the wealthiest people of that era and earning him the accolade of “Business Saint”.

Han Xin 韩信:

Han Xin is often referred to as the "God of Gambling" in Chinese/Oriental culture.

Han Xin was a famous general during the Han dynasty, known for his great military skills. He helped Emperor Liu Bang defeat his rivals and established the Han dynasty.

According to folktales, Han Xin allowed his soldiers to gamble during wartime to keep their spirits up. Some even say he invented and improved historical gambling games in the early days.

Liu Hai Chan 刘海蟾:

Liu Hai Chan is regarded as "God of Wealth" and his worshippers believe he can bring good luck and fortune.

He was a Taoist priest during the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms period. He became immortal and is often called Master Guangyang due to his noble lineage. In folklore, he is also known as Liu Hai, inspired by the legend of Liu Hai Playing with the Golden Toad.

Liu Hai Chan was known to have tamed a magical three-legged golden toad that could bring wealth. He travelled around with this toad, helping less privileged people escape poverty.

Shen Wan San 沈万三:

Shen Wan San is worshipped as the "God of Wealth", often associated with the Treasure Pot as a symbol of infinite fortune.

Shen Wan San was born in Suzhou and amassed great wealth through his business venture. When the Ming emperor was building Nanjing as its capital, Shen Wan San donated a huge amount of money to build the capital walls.

Legend has it that Shen Wan San accumulated his vast wealth because he possessed a magical Treasure Pot, which could produce treasures and jewellery endlessly.
