Flowers appreciated for their beauty are infused with significance and meanings derived from their names, distinctive characteristics and rich mythology. Countries and regions are often represented by the perfect flower that portrays their nation's pride.

The Coin Series includes six enchanting flowers coins - Lotus, Orchid, Shrub Althea, Peony, Cherry Blossom and Rose, all issued by Niue from 2019 onwards. Minted in unique flower shapes, the exquisite coins are illustrated in ultra-high relief with stunning enalel and lucent colours.

Enchanting Shrub Althea:

Shrub Althea, commonly known as "Mugunghwa" and "Rose of Sharon", is the National flower of South Korea. The flower is well-loved by South Koreans and a phrase extolling its beauty is included in the South Korean National Anthem.

Shrub Althea is the chosen National Flower for its tenacity and hardiness qualities that reflect the South Korean culture and its people's perseverance characteristics. The Korean word "Mugung" means "eternal blossom", aptly highlighting the symbolic significance of this enchanting flower.

The effigy of Queen Elizabeth II facing right is depicted in the centre of this face of the coin. The edge inscriptions are - "ELIZABETH II. NIUE. TWO DOLLARS. 2020" and "1 Oz. 999 FINE SILVER".
