1034) Panda Twins -Qiqi and Diandian, "United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Global Animal Goodwill Ambassadors" depicted on 3-stamp Mini Sheet (MS) which commemorates the China World Stamp Expo (11 to 17.06.2019) and SINGPEX (2019):
UNPA (United Nations Postal Administration) issued two special event three-stamp mini-sheets on 19.06.2019, featuring the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Global Animal Goodwill Ambassadors - Panda twins Qiqi and Diandian. The stamp sheets commemorate the China World Stamp Expo and SINGPEX 36 AISE.
The cubs - both male - were born a few months before world leaders convened at the United Nations in New York to adopt the new Sustainable Development Goals (also known as the Global Goals), which are part of a bold agenda that aims at eradicating poverty and tackling some of the most pressing challenges facing the world today.
Pandas symbolise the plight of the world's diminishing wildlife in the face of climate change and the loss of natural habitats. In addition, both bio-diversity and healthy eco-systems are essential for improving and sustaining human well-being. In fact addressing loss of bio-diversity is one of the Sustainable Development Goals.
The images/presence of United Nations Development Programme Global Animal Goodwill Ambassadors - Qiqi and Diandian - are spearheading the initiatives which are aimed at inspiring people across the world to engage with the goals and to raise awareness of the UNDP's efforts to promote sustainable development around the world.
The Stamp Mini-Sheets (MS):
The Mini-Sheet (MS) showing the two Panda twins shows the logo of "CHINA WORLD STAMP EXHIBITION" held from 11-17 June 2019 (at left) and bears the name of the issuing authority - "UNITED NATIONS POSTAL ADMINISTRATION".
