2518) “Pelješac Bridge”, Republic of Croatia: The Croatian National Bank (CNB) has issued a 25 Kuna Commemorative Circulation Coin to mark the opening of this bridge: Date/Year of Coin issue: 26.07.2022:

The Croatian National Bank has issued a new 25 Kuna Commemorative Circulation Coin marking the opening of the Pelješac Bridge for traffic and road connections in the territory of the Republic of Croatia, an important political, economic and social event for the Republic of Croatia.

The Header/Banner shows the Reverse and Obverse of the Commemorative Circulation 25 Kuna Coin

The Pelješac Bridge - is a cable-stayed bridge in Dubrovnik-Neretva County, Croatia.

The purpose of the bridge is to provide a fixed link from the Southeastern Croatian semi-exclave to the rest of the country while bypassing Bosnia and Herzegovina's short coastal strip at Neum.

The bridge spans the sea channel between Komarna on the Northern mainland and the peninsula of Pelješac, thereby passing entirely through Croatian territory and avoiding any border crossings with Bosnia and Herzegovina at Neum.

Construction started on 30.07.2018, and the bridge was connected on 28.07.2021 and the bridge and its access roads opened for traffic on 26.07.2022.

The Coin:

On the Reverse of the 25 Kuna Commemorative Circulation Coin, the inner part of the core and part of the ring feature a presentation of the Pelješac Bridge.

Partly in the inner part of the core and partly on the ring, behind the bridge, featured is a presentation of the part of the Pelješac peninsula that is connected by the bridge with the mainland of the Republic of Croatia.

The inscription “PELJEŠKI MOST” ("PELJEŠAC BRIDGE") and the year of release of the coin “2022” are positioned on the ring, below the presentation of the Pelješac Bridge.

On the Obverse of the 25 Kuna Commemorative Circulation Coin, the inner part of the core features two squares, one bigger than the other, symbolising the Coat of Arms of the Republic of Croatia and two parts of the territory of the Republic of Croatia which, shaped and connected in one stroke, are positioned in a way that symbolises road connections in the territory of the Republic of Croatia.

A common oak branch with acorns and a blooming laurel branch are positioned below the bigger square, within the inner part of the core.

The outlines of the bigger square reveal an image of a marten turned to the right, with the image continuing outside of the square, above the symbolic, imaginary line of the bridge and the smaller square.

Positioned to the left from the marten, on the coin’s ring surface, is an image of the Coat of Arms of the Republic of Croatia and positioned to the right is the denomination numeral “25”, with the name of the monetary unit “KUNA” inscribed below the numeral.

The inscription “REPUBLIKA” is laid out semi-circularly above the core, on the coin’s ring surface, while the inscription “HRVATSKA” is laid out below the core, on the ring’s surface.
