2021 Apache Tribes Uncirculated Set:
The Native American Mint’s Uncirculated sets honoring
different tribes continues with the 2021 Apache Tribes Set.
The Apache are not
one, but a group of tribes in the Southwestern United States, including the
Chiricahua, Jicarilla, Lipan, Mescalero, Mimbreño, Ndendahe, Salinero, Plains
and Western Apache.
One-Year-Only Designs Honour Apache Culture.
The Coins Set:
With a goal of producing accurate cultural depictions of
Native American tribes from across North America, the set contains a one-cent,
five-cent, 10-cent, 25-cent, 50-cent and $1 coin.
Of particular note is the
golden $1 coin, which displays a portrait of Geronimo, the famous Chiricahua
medicine man and war chief who fought against White encroachment for nearly 30
years.
He was the last American Indian warrior to formally surrender to the
United States when he laid down his arms for good in 1886.
Other designs
include images important to Apache culture: a handmade basket, a fox, prairie
dogs, a buffalo, and an Apache village.
The Obverse of each coin displays an
Apache war shield.
Legal-Tender Native American Coins:
These Cupronickel (CuNi) coins come in Brilliant
Uncirculated (BU) condition beautifully housed together in a full-colour blister
pack that includes a Certificate of Authenticity (COA).
The coins are also recognised
by the Federal Government as legal tender as set forth in the Constitution of
the United States and from the terms of bilateral treaties that date back to
the 18th century.
