2633) African Daisy, USA: USPS (United States Postal Service) has issued this Stamp as part of its "Global Forever Stamp": Date of Stamp issue: 14.03.2022:

A colourful African Daisy graces this "Global Stamp" from the US Postal Service (USPS).

A African Daisy "Global Forever Stamp" contributed for this post by Ms. Kanchan Malhotra, which was despatched from Newton MA on 12.12.2022 and received in Ahmednagar (MH), India on 26.12.2022 is cancelled with a "HAPPY HOLIDAYS" postmark.

The Stamp Art is a photograph of an orange African Daisy. The photo was shot from above and shows the detail of the central disc formed by tiny tubular florets surrounded by petal-like ray florets.

Native to Southern Africa, Osteospermum - called the "African Daisy" is widely available in US nurseries and makes a great addition to any garden. The flowers open in the morning sun, with blooms in a variety of colours, including purple, pink, yellow, orange and white. Some of the flowers have smooth, flat petals like a typical daisy, while others have petals that radiate out into a shape like a spoon.

Where summers are cooler, "African Daisies" bloom abundantly from spring to fall frost. In climates with hot, humid summers, the flowers bloom well in spring to early summer, but they decline rapidly in high summer heat. Some varieties rebloom in fall when cooler temperatures return.

The bright blossoms attract butterflies, bees and other pollinatiors.

This round Global Stamp can be used to mail a one-ounce letter to any country to which First-Class Mail International service is available.

As with all Global Stamps, this stamp will have a postal value equivalent to the price of the single-piece First Class Mail International First-Class Ounce machinable letter in effect at the time of use.

This African Daisy First Day Cover (FDC) 6-3/4 envelope bears an affixed Global Forever Stamp cancelled with an official First Day of issue postmark.

The standard four bar Cancellation marks the day and location of stamp issuance - 14.03.2022, Kansas Cito, MO, 64108.
