1415) Snaefell Mountain Railway, Isle of Man , A British Crown Dependency (BCD): 125th Anniversary (1895-2020): Isle of Man Post (IOMP) has brought out a set of six postage Stamps celebrating the 125th Anniversary milestone of the iconic Mountain Railway: Date of Stamp set issue: 29.06.2020:
The Snaefell Mountain Railway ("Raad-Yiarn Sniaull" - in Manx) is an electric mountain railway on the Isle of Man, which joins the village of Laxey with the summit of Snaefell at 2,036 feet (or 621.0 metres) above sea-level, the highest point on the island.
The iconic Heritage Railway has completed 125 years of service (1892-2020) and is celebrating the milestone this year.
It connects with the Manx Electric Railway (MER) in Laxey. The line is 5.0 miles (or 8.0 kilometres) long and is built tp 3 feet 6 inches (or 1.067 mm) gauge and uses a Fell Incline Railway System centre rail for braking on the steep gradients. It is electrified using overhead wires at 550 volts durect current (DC) with bow collectors.
The railway is owned by Isle of Man Heritage Railways.
The Railway operates from March to early November taking about 30 minutes for a one-way journey. The passenger traffic is carried in five wooden-bodied electric railcars, built in 1895 and numbered 1, 2, 4, 5 and 6. Car no. 3 was destroyed in 2016. Car no. 5 was burned out in an accident in 1970 and its body isa replacement built in 1971. The cars were re-equipped in the late 1970s with new bogies to a design based on the original, using motors and traction equipment from withdrawn Aachen trams.
This set of six postage stamps celebrate the 125th Anniversary of the Snaefell Mountain Railway, which is a picturesque and historic transport route that ascends the highest peak on the Isle of Man.

The six stamps issued in the set are affixed on top and centre right. The Special Cancellation Handstamp/Postmark is of Douglas, Isle of Man and is dated - "25.06.2020".
The Presentation Pack (PP) shows historic pictures of the Railway, and contains the six stamps issued in the set.

This historical stamp portrays the opening day of the Snaefell Mountain Railway on 21.08.1895.

This stamp depicts Train number 1 approaching the Bungalow - the famous landmark on the TT course. The summit of Snaefell can be seen in the background.

This picturesque stamp displays Train number 6 at Lhergy Veg. This image conveys the landscape and breath-taking views found along the Railway.
Stamp value RoW:
This stamp shows Tram number 5 as it passes the statue of a Laxey Miner at Mines Road, Laxey. The Laxey station marks the beginning of the ascent to the peak of Snaefell.
Stamp value 1.82 Pounds:
This stamp displays the evening service Tram number 5 as it approaches the summit at Snaefell. Conveyed through their image is the height to which the tram climbs to the peak of the mountain, as cloud cover can be seen in the backdrop.
Stamp value 1.92 Pounds:
Displayed is the opening of the Snaefell Summit Hotel, shortly after its construction in 1905. The aforementioned hotel hosted many guests and to this day is a popular venue for dining nights.
