1536) "Susu The Dragon", Hungary: First Stamp Set in the "Fairy Tales Characters Stamp Series", issued by Magyar Posta (Hungarian Post): Date of Stamp set issue: 02.09.2019:

Magyar Posta issued a special Souvenir Sheet (SS) with three stamps in the "Fairy Tales Characters Stamp Series" on 02.09.2019, which featured Susu the Dragon from the animated Television Series.

The nine-episode animated Television Series based on the screen-play by Istvan Csukas was first broadcast over four decades ago, but its leading character - the outcast Dragon Susu - is still instantly recognised by children in Hungary even today.

The story line goes, that Susu was mocked and feared by people, but his inner beauty was luckily recognised by the Good Prince, who arranged for the dragon to be welcomed into the Royal Court.

There everyone came to love Susu, who became indispensable to life at the Royal Court. Besides the author Istavan Csukas, other eminent artists, like the puppet designer Sandor Levai, the puppeteer HenrikKemeny, the actor Gyula Bodrogi and the dramaturgist VeraTakacs, all contributed to the creative process.

The Stamp Set:

The Souvenir Sheet (SS) shows the main characters, with the good-hearted Dragon in the middle. To Susu's right is his greatest friend - the Prince, together with the Princess, the Young Prince and the Old King.

On the left of the Dragon are Nursey, the Chancellor and the Dragonhead Vendor, who would use any trick to strike a good deal.

On the First Day Cover (FDC), a scene from the bustling life at Court is depicted and the Postmark features the fish spouting water from the fountain in the middle of the square. The FDC bears the cancellation date - "02.09.2019".
