1384) Medical and Industrial Tubing, Aland Island: A Postage Stamp issued by "Posten Aland" (Aland Post) having the value marked as Inrikes: Date of Stamp issue: 05.06.2020:
Optinova Group, an Aland company headquartered in Mannerhamn, is the world leader in the manufacture of polymer-based tubing for medical and industrial applications.
The tubing is used in a wide range of spheres, for example in cardio-vascular surgery, pharmaceutical industry and food production, as well as, in the electrical and electronic sectors.
The Commemorative Stamp:
A Single Stamp titled "ALAND INRIKES" and shows the year of issue "2020".
A First Day Cover (FDC) has the Stamp issued, affixed at the top right hand of the FDC. The FDC has a background image of colourless tubes spread across its front.
The FDC is titled "FDC MEDICIN OCH INDUSTRISLANGAR" (meaning "Medicine and Industrial Tubing"), at lower left.
The special Cancellation Handstamp/Postmark is of Mariehamn Post Office and the cancellation is dated - 05.06.2020".
A Full Sheet (FS) containing 3 x 5 = 15 x 2 = 30 Stamps.
A Gutter Pair of 5 x 2 =10 stamps
In philately, a gutter is the space left between postage stamps which allows them to be separated or perforated.
When stamps are printed on large sheets of paper, that will be guillotined into smaller sheets along the gutter it will not exist on the finished sheet of stamps.
Some sheets are specifically designed where two panes of stamps are separated by a gutter still in the finished sheet and gutters may, or may not, have some printing in the gutter.
Since perforation of a particular width of stamps is normal, the gutter between the stamps is often the same size as the postage stamp.

ReplyDelete"How encouraging and recognition for a company if a postal stamp is issued on it's product."
It is indeed extremely encouraging and something to be proud of, GK. Aland is part of the SEPAC (Small European Postal Administrations Cooperation) and highlights these achievements on a regular basis.
