1516) "Britannia 2021", United Kingdom: The world's most secure Gold and Silver Bullion Coins issued by the Royal Mint UK: Marketed wef: 19.10.2020 (with year of issue engraved as 2021):

The 2021 Britannia Bullion Coins issues redefine security in the Bullion market.

Created by the team which was behind the United Kingdom's 12-sided 1 Pound Coin (dubbed as "the world's most secure coin"), Britannia has evolved once more to spearhead the best security technology available and lead the way as the most visually secure coin in the world.

The 2021 Britannia Gold Bullion Coin 1/4 Oz design placed against a background image of Gold Bullion Coins

This Britannia design by Philip Nathan from 1987 depicts an enduring symbol of a nation, boldly standing beside a shield that bears the Union Flag - a symbol of Britain's strength, and holding an olive branch representing peace.

The 2021 Britannia in both Gold and Silver bullion comes with four new additional features, which include:

- Latent image - First introduced on the Reverse face of the 2 Pounds circulation coin in 1997, the latent image acts like a hologram and changes from a padlock to a trident when the coin is viewed from different angles.

(On the Bullion Coins, in the lower left-hand of the design, below Britannia's flowing gown, is a trident to represent Britain's naval history).

Surface animation - Micro details on the coin combine to create the illusion of waves rolling behind the figure of Britannia. These are made using advanced *pico-second lasers and come to life as the coin is rotated.

(The Royal Mint was one of the first mints in the world to use advanced pico-second lasers, used in medicine and aerospace, for the production of coins. This technology enables the Royal Mint to work on a submicron level, creating intricate designs using indents which are 200 times narrower than the width of a human hair.

Togeher, these tiny indents can create spectacular special effects, such as the movement of waves seen in the background of the Britannia coin).

The advanced technology and intricacy of the design make it incredibly difficult to replicate and gives buyers/collectors confidence about owning a genuine gold product, simply by rotating the coin in the light.

- Micro-text - The addition of the Latin inscription "DECUS ET TUTAMEN" (meaning "An Ornament and a Safeguard), surrounds the figure of Britannia and is created by using specialist lasers.

- Tincture Lines - To reinforce security, the Royal Mint has reintroduced the traditional art of tincture lines, depicting  colours and patterns on metal.
