1447) Sherlock Holmes, United Kingdom: A set of six stamps issued by the Royal Mail, UK featuring the characters of the modern version of a TV Serial "Sherlock" started in 2010 by the BBC,  together with Cupro-Nickel & Silver Medals minted by the Royal Mint, UK: Date of Stamp Set issue: 18.08.2020:

About Arthur Conan Doyle, the creator of the immortal Sherlock Homes:

Arthur Conan Doyle the creator of Sherlock Holmes stories was born in 1859 and came from a highly intellectual family. He began writing when still in school.

After obtaining his medical degree in 1881, he worked as a ship doctor and eventually set up his own medical practice. To kill time, he started writing novels and stories.

The most famous character he created was Sherlock Holmes. Dr. Watson, a good friend of Doyle's figured in all his detective fiction. The popularity of Sherlock Holmes was so great, that, when Doyle got bored with Sherlock Holmes and killed him ij one of his stories, the public out-cry was so huge that he had to resurrect him in another story.

The death of his first wife in 1900 awakened the spiritualism in him and Doyle became obsessed with life after death. He almost became a fanatic and maintained that the dead continued to live in a subtle world and could be contacted.

Sherlock Holmes, although a fictional character was brought to life so resoundingly in all the storiesof Doyle that it is difficult to believe he is a fictional character. The character evokes ever lasting admiration and gets firmly etched in the mind of the reader.

Arthur Conan Doyle has written four novels, fifty-six collection of short stories with Sherlock as the hero.

Though Sherlock Holmes stories were written in the last part of the 19th Century and beginning of the 20th Century, they have not lost their capacity to hold the reader's interest.

Although Doyle wrote several other books and created several other characters none enjoys the popularity of Sherlock Holmes and his crime solving stories.

Perhaps the most well-known fictional detective of all, Sherlock Holmes was created by Arthur Conan Doyle in 1887. He continued to feature in novels and many short stories until 1927.

Screen adaptations began almost as soon as movies came into existence. There have been over 25,000 screen adaptations, films, television productions and publications featuring the detective. The Guinness Book of World Records lists him as the "most portrayed literary human character in film and television history".

I have the entire collection of short stories on Sherlock Holmes in my personal library and have read and seen the TV and movie adaptations several times over.

The Front and Back Covers of a two volume collection of the complete works on Sherlock Holmes Novels & Short stories in two volumes in my personal library.

In the modern version of the TV Serial started in 2010, based on Doyle's original characters -  Sherlock Holmes still lives in early 21st Century London but maintains various elements of the original stories .

Interestingly, now Dr. Watson writes a blog instead of a diary, Sherlock Holmes home address 221B Baker Street and his arch-rival/adversary Moriarty still continues with his devilish plans to outsmart Sherlock. Sherlock still works for private clients , as well as, Scotland Yard and the London Metropolitan Police Service.

Design Studio So has created a set of Sherlock Holmes stamps for the Royal Mail which are designed to capture the mystery and spirit of the television show.

The studio has created a set of six Stamps and Presentation Pack, as well as, packaging for a coin collaboration with the Royal Mint.

The Stamp themes have been selected based on the most popular episodes - from the Series Premiere - A Study in Pink to the Series 2 cliff-hanger - The Reichenbach Fall.

Characters were taken from the selected episodes and placed in the foreground of the Stamps - such as Irene Adler from the second Series Premiere - A Scandal in Belgravia.

A hidden UV layer has been incorporated in the Stamps, which when illuminated with UV light reveals secret messages, illuminating clues from the episodes.

The Sherlock Presentation Pack:

The Sherlock Presentation Pack is a beautiful compilation of stamps, stories and images celebrating the legendary crime-detecting character on the 10th Anniversary of the modern-day adaptation of his adventures.

"I have read 4 times ,l will prefer to call it a well researched paper. As engrossing as Works of Sir A K D. I was prompted in my School days to read his and books written by Agatha Christi to improve my Language skills??? šŸ˜Š.Your hobby and in depth description is matchless. Rather more interesting read compared to character of Sherlock Holmes šŸ•µ️‍♂️.Please think of 3-4 books covering, say a block of 50-100 years. You already have required material with you. Please accept my compliments .Best Wishes and Regards.
