1533) Zeus, Tuvalu Island: The first coin in the "Gods of Olympus Coin Series":   A Silver $1 Coin in Brilliant Uncirculated (BU) and Antiqued Finish (AF) minted by the Perth Mint Australia, on behalf of Tuvalu Island: Year of Coin issue: 2020:

In 2014, the Perth Mint had released its first ever antiqued coins in the Gods of Olympus Coin Series.

Now the iconic Zeus design is back in 2020 and for the first time ever issued in a dual finish by the Perth Mint - in both Brilliant Uncirculated (BU) and Antiqued Finish (AF).

The Header shows the Reverse of the #2 coin , Antique Finish (AF) variant against a background image of a Mount Olympus abode

About Zeus:

Zeus is the God of the Sky and Thunder in ancient Greek mythology, who ruled as the King of the Pantheon of Gods that lived on  Mount Olympus. His name is synonymous with his Roman equivalent - Jupiter.

Zeus is a son of Cronus and Rhea and the youngest sibling to be born to his parents, though sometimes believed to be the eldest as the others required disgorging from Cronus's stomach.

In most traditions, he married Hera, by whom he fathered Ares, Hebe and Hephaestus. At the Oracle of Dodona, his wife was said to be Dione, by whom he fathered Aphrodite. Zeus was also well-known for his amorous escapades (at least 40 of them are known), which led to many godly and heroic offspring being born , including Athena, Apollo, Artemis, Hermes, Persephone, Dionysus, Perseus, Heracles, Helen of Troy, Minos and the Muses.

He is recognised an an allfather, who was the Chief of the Gods and assigned the others to their roles. Even the gods who were not his natural children addresses him as "Father". He is the God of the sky, weather, law, justice, morals and fate and a spiritual leader of both gods and men.

He was equated with many foreign weather gods  and is the god of the Sky and Thunder. He is shown as striding forward/standing with a thunderbolt levelled in his right hand or seated in majesty.

Zeus seized control from the Titans and divided the Universe between his siblings - While he retained control of the heavens, Poseidon ruled the sea and Hades the Underworld.

The Coin:

This Coin is the first in a new series and the first dual release from the Perth Mint, Australia to be minted in both Brilliant Uncirculated (BU) and Antique Finish (AF) qualities.

On the Reverse of the $1 (One Dollar) Silver Coin is depicted a bearded Zeus rising up into a stormy sky wielding his thunderbolt and sceptre with an eagle flying above his shoulder.

The inscriptions are - "ZEUS" (at the bottom periphery) and the Perth Mint's mint mark "P", (at left centre)..

On the Obverse of the  $1 (One Dollar) Silver Coin is seen an effigy of Queen Elizabeth II facing right, designed by Ian-Rank-Broadley, whose initials "IRB" are seen below thev Queen's neck.

The peripheral inscriptions are - ELIZABETH II. 1 DOLLAR. TUVALU. 2020. 1 Oz. 9999 Ag".
