1858) A Ten Rupee Banknote issued by the Bank of Mauritius in 1967, under its First Series of Banknotes, in the year of setting up of the Bank as the Central Bank of Mauritius:
In 09/1967, the Bank of Mauritius was set up as the Central Bank of Mauritius and has the supervisory responsibility of issuing Banknotes and Coins ever since.
The 1967 Series of Banknotes (First Series of Banknotes) issued by the Bank of Mauritius:
The Central Bank of Mauritius issued its First Series of Banknotes in 1967 itself, which comprised of four denominations - 5, 10, 25 and 50 Rupees.
On the Front, these denominations were all undated and carried a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II on the Front.
On the Back, the 5 Rupee Banknote carried a monument marking the landing of the Dutch at the bay of Grand Port (1598) and a sailing boat.
On the Back, the 10 Rupee Banknote carried an image of the Government House and Port Louis, the capital city of Mauritius and the economic, cultural and political centre and most populous city of Mauritius.
On the Back, the 25 Rupee Banknote depicted an image of a Bullock Cart.
On the Back of the 50 Rupee Banknote was shown an image of Port Louis Harbour.

On the Front of the Ten (10) Rupee Banknote is seen a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, at right, which was used from 1967 to 1968 in Mauritius Banknotes.
The inscriptions were - "BANK OF MAURITIUS" and "TEN RUPEES". The languages used on this Banknote were - English, Tamil, Hindi.
This Banknote was signed by Goorpersad Bunwaree & Indurduth Ramphul and this Banknote Series was printed by Thomas De la Rue & Company, London imprinted in small script on a panel at lower centre on each note's Back.
The Banknote carried a watermark window of a Dodo bird (an extinct species).
The colour of this Banknote was Red on a multi-colour underprint.
On the Back of the Ten (10) Rupee Banknote is seen an image of the Government House and Port Louis,the capital city of Mauritius.
This Banknote was rectangular in shape and its dimensions were - 144.00 mm x 83.00 mm. It was in circulation from 1967 to 1982.
This Banknote carried a Silver coloured Security Thread and was printed by Thomas De La Rue & Company, London, as were the other Banknotes in this Series.
This Banknote was demonetised on 30.04.1988.
