Description
34 years after the unforgettable Sun World Championships
in 1991, another atmospheric winter fairytale is to be written in the
world-famous Salzburg ski resort.
Here are some things to know about the 2025 FIS Alpine
World Ski Championships:
Location:
All races will be held on the Zwölferkogel in
Hinterglemm, which has a single finish area for all disciplines.
Sustainability:
The championships will emphasize sustainability in
social, environmental, and economic areas.
Accessibility:
All lifts and pistes in the Skicircus will be operating
without limit during the championships.
Inspiration:
The championships aim to create lasting inspiration for
the next generation of skiers and the region.
Legendary track:
The "Ochsenritt" is a legendary section of the
track, renowned from past World Cup races.
Volunteer program:
Whether skiing, snowboarding, sledging or snowshoeing through a snowy landscape, the connection to the winter wonderland is deeply rooted in the Austrians.
There are few better natural experiences than gliding through virgin snow. Shifting your weight from side to side as you speed down a slope gives a sense of enormous physical freedom. At times like these, we feel like world champions as we savour the moment, master our personal challenges and take in the spectacular snow-covered scenery.
The Coin:
The Reverse of the 5 Euro Silver Coin features the helmeted head of a skier with the number 1 emblazoned on it, symbolising first place.
The word "Weltmeister" ("World Champion") is reflected in the skier’s goggles – the goal that every competitive athlete has in mind. The skier’s face is indicated purely through the coin’s contours and the design is rounded off by snow crystals in the background.
Available in silver and copper, and designed without a year of issue, this timeless coin is dedicated to all the world champions who have made Austria proud and will continue to do so. Is there a better gift for someone who loves winter sports?
