The Monetary Authority of Macau proudly presents the Macau Year of the Horse Coins, exclusively minted by The Singapore Mint. They are the 7th issue of the 2020-2031 Macau Lunar Coin Series.
The Header/Banner presents the Reverse of the Gold and Silver coins.
The Obverse design of the Coin features the noble and spirited horse (2020-2031) as the focus, portrayed with radiant amethyst purple coloured Portuguese-style patterned tiles that exudes elegance and grandeur.
Embellishing the background are lotuses, the city flower of Macau, adding to the intricacy of the coin design. The accompanying texts are thoughtfully arranged to resemble the Map of the Macau Peninsula.
The Reverse design of the Coin features the Cathedral, which is intricately minted with high relief minting technique. The facade of the Cathedral embodies splendour and majesty, with a symmetrical structure that exemplifies the neo-classical architectural style.
The Cathedral has a triangular pitched roof and timber framing, flanked by two towers.
One of the towers houses a large clock, specially commissioned in United Kingdom to commemorate the accession of King Dom Pedro V of Portugal. Presented from a bottom-up perspective, the Cathedral’s grandeur and magnificence are beautifully conveyed on the coin design.
