REGIMENTS UNDER CORPS OF ENGINEERS:

The Corps consists of three groups of combat engineers, namely the Madras Sappers, the Bengal Sappers and the Bombay Sappers.

Motto: “Agrasar Tatha Akramak"

Headquarters: New Delhi, India

Active From: 1777.

- The Corps of Engineers of the Indian Army has a long history dating back to the mid-18th century. 

- The earliest existing subunit of the Corps (18 Field Company) dates back to 1777 while the Corps officially recognises its birth as 1780 when the senior most group of the Corps, the Madras Sappers were raised. 

-  A group is roughly analogous to a regiment of Indian infantry, each group consisting of a number of engineer regiments. 

- The engineer regiment is the basic combat engineer unit, analogous to an infantry battalion. Besides the combat engineers, the Corps mans and operates major engineering organisations such as the Military Engineer Services, the Border Roads Organisation (BRO), the Married Accommodation Project and the Survey of India. 

- College of Military Engineering, Pune (CME) is the premier technical and tactical training institution of the Indian Army Corps of Engineers.

The Special Cover (SC) is titled "114 Armoured Engineer Regiment" and bears the legend - "GOLDEN JUBILEE 13 OCTOBER 1973 - 13. OCTOBER 2023". below the logo of "THE BOMBAY SAPPERS".

At top right is affixed a 500 Paise (Rs.5/-) postage stamp cancelled with a special cancellation stamp featuring an special cancellation of the 114 Armoured Regiment
The postal address is of 56 APO and the date of Cancellation is 13.10.2024.

The Back of the Special Cover (SC) gives the serial no. of the Cover as APS/47/2024 on top. At the bottom is the issuing authority - Addl. Dte Gen APS C/0 56 APO

The Information Brochure gives the following description:

Brief History: 114 Armoured Engineer Regiment:

114 Engineer Regiment was raised on 01 September 1973 at Ambala by Lt Col SK Gulati and Sub Maj Ganpat Shinde.

The Regiment moved to Chandimandir in October 1973.

Out of the three Field Companies, two were erstwhile Independent Field Companies, the third Field company and Field Park Company were raised along with the raising of the Regiment.

Raising Day of the Regiment is celrbrated on 13 October every year as the first sapper from BEG & Centre, Kirkee reported to the Regiment on that day.

The regiment moved to Patiala from Chandimandir in February 1976 and was reorganised as 114 Armoured Engineer Regiment in January 1986.

It moved from Patiala to Jhansi in October 2006.

In November 2012, the Regiment moved to Patiala & then to Hisar and is at its present location since June 2022.

Both 371 and 482 Field Companies were Independent Field Companies prior to becoming part of the Regiment. 371 field Company (now Composite Field Squadron) was an Independent Company and was raised at Kirkee on 19 December 1952. The Company sawv active action during the 1971 Indo-Pak war at Chak Amru. 

It became part of the Regiment on 12 October 1973.

482 Field Company (now Composite Field Squadron) was an Independent Company raised in 1943 at Dighi, Pune, saw active operations in Afghanistan, Palestine in 1944 and 1971 Indo-Pak war.

It became a part of the Regiment on 17 September 1973.

486 Field Company (now Composite Field Squadron) was raised on 03 November 1973 and joined as the youngest member of "Agrasar Tatha Akramak" family, since then the squadron has taken active part in all operations of the Regiment and has proved its mettle on all fronts.

693 Field Park Company (now Field Support Squadron) was raised along with 486 Field Company, and its manpower was pooled from disbanded 727 Plant Company. This Squadron has been the pillar of strength of the Regiment and played a pivotal role around which all activities of the Regiment revolve.

The Regiment has the distinction of participating in many major operations sinvce raisind viz Operation BLUE STAR, Operation TRIDENT, Operation RAKSHAK I & II, Op VIJAY and Operation PARAKRAM.

The regiment was awarded GOC-in-C Southern Command Unit Citation in 2008 for all round professional excellence displayed during Ex DAKSHI SHAKTI and Operation KOSI PRAHAR (flood relief operation in Bihar) and was also awarded GOC-in-C western Command Unit Citation on occasion of Army Day 2025.

The regiment also earned the unique status in Corps of Engineers wherein six Commanding Officers have been nominated for the General Cadre.

For display of true grit, sacrifice, valour and spirit of selfless service the Regiment's Officers and Troops have been awarded with the following gallantry awards till date:
