About PET Recycling:

With the "Globe", a stamp embroidered from recycled PET thread, "Liechtensteinische Post" ("Philately Liechtenstein") has drawn attention to the topic of Environmental Protection and especially to the recovery of recyclable materials from waste.

The Embroidered Stamp of 6.30 Euros shows an embroidered globe in the centre and three green leaves symbolising an eco-friendly environment. The Stamp is titled - "FURSTENTUM. LICHTENSTEIN", along the outer periphery indicating the place/country of its origin

The stamp was produced by embroidery manufactures Hammerle & Vogel in Lustenau, Austria.

For this purpose, 3,100 PET bottles with a volume of 600 ml each were processed to make cleaned flakes before producing a new high-quality polyester yarn from them. Seventy-five metres of thread were produced for each stamp.

With an issue of 40,000 stamps, this means that three million metres of recycled polyester thread was used. This length is sufficient to surround the external border of the Principality of Liechtenstein forty times over.

A comparison of the amount of work involved is equally impressive - While the embroidery machine with over one million revolutions produced the issue in the shortest possible time, a single hand embroiderer would take about 25 years to produce all the stamps.

The new, five centimetre self-adhesive stamp in the shape of a Globe is not only intended as a collector's item or for franking a postal item, it can also decorate one's own clothes or other accessories to show the wearer's personal commitment to environmental protection and sustainability.

The First Day Cover (FDC) is titled "PET RECYCLING" and bears an embroidered stamp at top right.

The special cancellation Handstamp/Postmark bears three leaves symbolising an eco-friendly environment and is of Ersttag, Vaduz (Liechtenstein) and the cancellation is dated - "07.09.2020".

 The First Day Envelope (FDE)

A Maxi Card (or Maximum Card), which has all three - picture, stamp and cancellation on one side only.

It shows a turtle swimming in a polluted ocean, with PET bottles lying on the ocean bed, with plastic entangled in its fins.
