4242) "Favourite animals of the French", Republic of France (Republique Francaise): Monnaie de Paris (The Paris Mint) has issued four 5€ Base Metal Coins and one €250 Gold Coin dedicated to the Dog, the Cat, The Rabbit and the Horse: Date/Year of Coins issue: 08/09.12.2025:
Description:
Animals hold a special place in the hearts of the French. Life companions, symbols of nature or sources of wonder, they arouse deep affection and sincere attachment.
Among them, some stand out for their popularity and the emotion they arouse. This selection honours the favorite animals of the French, those that touch us, inspire us and reflect the strong bond we have with the animal world.
In 2025, the Monnaie de Paris wants to highlight the favorite animals of the French: the cat, the dog, the rabbit and the horse, each of which are illustrated on a collection of two-tone 5 euro coins.
These 4 animals are also those that are particularly protected and welcomed by the Society for the Protection of Animals, which is celebrating 180 years of commitment to the animal cause in 2025.
Each coin in this series is much more than a collector's item: it embodies a universal message of compassion, a recognition of the daily work of teams and volunteers, and a call to the collective conscience.
The SPA and the Monnaie de Paris are affirming their common desire to raise awareness of the animal cause among the general public, and to perpetuate the memory of a just fight, carried by emotion, action, and conviction.
On the occasion of the 180th anniversary of the SPA, the Monnaie de Paris is dedicating a new collection to the four favourite animals of the French: the dog, the cat, the rabbit and the horse.
This €250 gold coin pays tribute to the millions of animals rescued, cared for, protected and adopted thanks to the commitment of the SPA since 1845 and engraves in metal all the attachment that is attached to them:
The dog, a faithful companion, symbolizes loyalty, daily presence and trust.
The cat, an endearing companion, evokes mysteriosity and independence.
The rabbit, an affectionate companion, represents sensitivity and curiosity.
The horse, majestic and sensitive, embodies strength and intelligence.
All four gathered in a medallion on this coin, they pay tribute to the millions of animals rescued, cared for and loved thanks to the commitment of the SPA since 1845.
