About Sepac:

The Small European Postal Administration Cooperation (SEPAC) is an association of 13 European Postal Authorities:

- Åland,

- the Faroe Islands,

- Gibraltar,

- Greenland,

- Guernsey,

- Iceland,

- the Isle of Man,

- Jersey,

- Liechtenstein,

- Luxembourg,

- Malta,

- Monaco, and

- Vatican City.

Luxembourg was not originally a member of SEPAC but it joined at the end of 2006. San Marino decided to leave and is no longer a member, as of 03/2020. SEPAC is smaller than PostEurop

Vatican City does not participate in these issues.

The following criteria are requisites for membership:

- The postal administration must be located in Europe.

- The postal administration must be independent.

- The postal administration must have a small market with more than 50% of its philatelic customers living outside the country.

The theme of the 2022 SEPAC Stamp Issue is "Local Beverages”:

This year’s theme for the Sepac stamp series issued by the small European postal administrations is locally produced beverages.

As its stamp motif/design, Åland Post decided to highlight sea-buckthorn, Åland’s own super berry.

A varied range of sea-buckthorn beverages is produced in Åland.

Åland is one of a few areas in Finland where sea-buckthorn grows in the wild. The wild shrubs grow in dense stands and thrive best on stone and gravel beaches.

The thorny branches make the berries difficult to pick

The small orange, juicy and sour berries of the sea-buckthorn ripen in the autumn and contain high amounts of beneficial vitamins, antioxidants, and fats. Squeezed from the berries, the raw juice is used as such, but also as the base of jams, marmalades, syrups, and ice cream. The fruit pomace is also used in various products.

The Stamp:

The Stamp of €1.90 depicts the bottled Hav-thorn beverage together with a seabuch-thorn plant, with its berries.

The First Day Cover (FDC) shows the Sea Buck-thorn plant, together with a glass of the local beverage at bottom left.

At top right is affixed the €1.90 Stamp cancelled with a special stamp of Mariehamn Post Office dated - "06.09.2022".

A Gutter Pair consisting of six stamps separated by the Gutter.

Gutter:

In philately, a gutter is the space left between postage stamps which allows them to be separated or perforated.

When stamps are printed on large sheets of paper that will be guillotined into smaller sheets along the gutter it will not exist on the finished sheet of stamps.

Some sheets are specifically designed where two panes of stamps are separated by a gutter still in the finished sheet and gutters may, or may not, have some printing in the gutter.

Since perforation of a particular width of stamps is normal, the gutter between the stamps is often the same size as the postage stamp.

Several derivative terms exist:

Gutter pairs are two stamps separated by a gutter.

Gutter block is a block of at least four stamps where either the vertical or horizontal pairs, or both, are separated by a gutter.

Gutter margin is a margin dividing a sheet of stamps into separate panes.
