About Europa 2022 - Stamps:

EUROPA Stamps are special stamps issued by European postal administrations.

They bear the official EUROPA logo, a PostEurop registered trademark under the aegis of PostEurop in which Europe is the central theme.

EUROPA stamp issues are among the most collected and most popular stamps in the world and have been issued for over 60 years.

Every year a new theme is assigned by PostEurop and all participating countries issue stamps with their own interpretation of the theme. The theme for 2022 is "Stories and Myths"

More about EUROPA Postage Stamps:

EUROPA Postage stamps (also known as Europa - CEPT - European Conference of Postal and Telecommunications Administrations - until 1992) are special stamps issued by European Postal Administrations/Enterprises and bears the official EUROPA logo, a PostEurop registered trademark under the aegis of PostEurop in which Europe is the central theme.

EUROPA stamps underline cooperation in the posts domain, aimed at promotion of philately. They also build awareness of the common roots, culture and history of Europe and its common goals.

As such, EUROPA stamp issues are among the most collected and most popular stamps in the world.

Since the first issue in 1956, EUROPA stamps have been a tangible symbol of Europe's desire for closer integration and co-operation.

In 1993, PostEurop became responsible for issuing EUROPA stamps.

When CEPT decided to focus more on telecommunications in 1993, PostEurop took over the management of the Europa issues. The CEPT logo was replaced by a new logo created by PostEurop i.e. the word "EUROPA" leaning towards the right hand side.

Each year, PostEurop's "Stamps & Philately Group" selects the EUROPA stamp theme:

About Europa 2022 - "Stories and Myths" Stamps issued by  Bpost (Belgian Post):

PostEurop stamp theme for 2022 is "Stories and Myths".

The EUROPA Stamps issued by Bpost (Belgian Post)  feature the Legends of "Saint Hubertus" and "The Four Sons of Aymon, Kludde":

Bpost (Belgian Post) has issued on 13.06.2022, EUROPA stamps depicting the Legends of "Saint Hubertus" and "The Four Sons of Aymon, Kludde".

The Legends/Myths - Background:

The Miniature Sheet (MS) shows the Stories and Legends of St. Hubertus and the four sons of Aymon, Kludde

The Legend of St. Hebertus and Baraque Michel:

The Baraque Michel is a locality in the municipality Jalhay, in the High Fens, Wallonia. Before the annexation of the Eastern Cantons by Belgium in 1919, it was the highest point of Belgium.

The Baraque itself is an inn founded between 1811 and 1813 by Michel Schmitz, of Herbiester (a hamlet close to Jalhay). Apart from being an inn, it also served as a refuge for stray travellers: a bell was sounded there during fog, which allowed the rescue of more than one hundred people during the 19th century.

This EUROPA - 2022 stamp tells the story of Saint Hubertus

He was a married courtier with a passion for hunting. Hubertus was not initially passionate about his faith.

On the death of his wife he left the royal court and immersed himself in hunting. As legend holds, an encounter with a stag with a crucifix between its antlers turned Hubertus’ life toward God.

He earned the title "the Apostle of the Ardennes", and passed away in 727 AD in Belgium.

He is known as the patron saint of hunters, dogs, and archers. His feast day is on the 3rd of November.

The second stamp tells us of the legend of "Ros Bayard - The Four Sons of Aymon, Kludde":

The "Ros Bayard" (or "Beiaard" as the locals call it) of the city Dendermonde is a folkloric horse, which originates from the legend of "The four sons of Aymon".

It is the main character in a procession that goes around the city every ten years, in a medieval times style.
The "Dendermonde Ros Beiaard" has been on UNESCO's List of "Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity" since 2005

The story of "The four sons of Aymon" goes back to the middle ages and goes like this:

The Knight Aymon of Dordogne was a loyal feudal man of Charlemagne. He was married to Aye. She gave her husband four sons: Ritsaert, Writsaert, Adelaert, and Reinout. Reinout was the strongest of the four.

According to an old tradition, the four sons each received a horse as a gift from their father.

Reinout, however, was so strong that he accidentally killed his horse. Then a second horse was offered to him, but that horse also broke its loins on the first ride.

Lord Aymon, however, knew what to do. Because a knight had to have a horse, he took his son to a castle that housed the infamous stallion Bayard, a furious black beast that was feared by everyone and who had never found his master.

Undeterred, Reinout faced the rearing horse, which immediately threw him a few meters further on the ground with a hefty kick.

Reinout did not want to give up, however, and after a heroic battle, he managed to submit the wonderful strong horse to his will. From then on, the stallion Bayard would obey knight Reinout forever.
