Augmented Reality (AR) is a technology that overlays computer-generated information onto a user's view of the real world, creating an interactive experience where the digital and physical worlds blend. This is typically achieved through devices like smartphones, tablets, or specialised AR headsets.
Overlaying Digital Information:
AR adds virtual elements like images, text, or 3D models to a user's real-world view, enriching their perception of reality.
Real-time Interaction:
The digital content responds to the user's movements and interactions with the physical environment, creating a dynamic and engaging experience.
Enhancing the Real World:
Unlike Virtual Reality (VR), which replaces the real world with a simulated one, AR enhances the real world by adding digital information, rather than substituting it.
Various Applications:
AR is used in a wide range of fields, including gaming (e.g., Pokemon Go), education, retail (e.g., furniture placement), and manufacturing (e.g., remote assistance).
Gaming: Pokemon Go uses AR to simulate creatures appearing in the real world.
Retail: Users can use AR to visualize furniture in their homes before purchasing it.
Manufacturing: AR can guide workers through complex tasks by overlaying instructions or information onto their view of equipment.

The interesting part about AR is that there is a QR Code at the back of each post card, which if scanned gives a detailed commentary on the particular headgear:

The Back of the Cover Envelope details that it is a set of sixteen Augmented Reality (AR) postcards.
Also seen on this face is the name of NATIONAL PHILATELIC MUSEUM" (the postcard issuing entity) and its communication address.
The logos of IndiaPost and Philetelic Division are at the extreme bottom left.
The Sixteen Headgears with AR application are as under:
The Angami Tribal Cap from Nagaland reflects the pride and valour of the Angami warriors, adorned with boar tusks and dyed goat hair to signify their strength and heritage.
NAGA HAT:
The Nsga Cap symbolises pride and honour, each with rare Hornbill feathers representing a mark of achievement, much like a medal.
HIMACHALI CAP:
The Himachali Cap, typically grey or brown with a flat top, features a colourful woven band in front and is often worn stylishly at a rakish angle.
Japi Cap:
The Japi is a traditional conical cane hat from Assam, once worn by royalty and now used in the Bihu dance ceremonies, and as home decor, originally serving as sun protection and crafted from palm leaves and cane.
RAJASTHANI TURBAN:
The Royal Safa from Rajasthan is a regal turban worn during weddings and ceremonies, with its bright hues and intricate patterns representing royal heritage and festive granduer.
HARYANVI TURBAN:
The Haryanvi Turban from Haryana symbolises honour and respect, with its vibrant colours and distinct wrapping style representing the region's agricultural richness and festive spirit.
The Bison Horn Headgear, worn by the Bison Horn Maria tribe of Chattisgarh during ceremonies, is a bamboo-framed headdress decorated with feathers and cowry shells, traditionally made from bison horns but now crafted with cattle horns, and passed down through generations.
HORNBILL WARRIOR CAP:
Chang Naga warriors wear a plated cane helmet decorated with hornboll feathers, animal hair, boar tusks, and a chin strap of ten tiger claws, an honour reserved for successful headhunters.
MITHILA TURBAN:
The Paag, a traditional headgear of the Maithil people from Bihar's Mithila region, symbolises pride and respect, evolving from prehistoric leaf-made forms to poday's varied shapes, shades and colours.
TEPI BROKPA TRIBE:
The ancient Brokpa tribe of Ladakh is known for their vibrant "Tepi" headgear, adorned with mountain flowers and ornaments to ward off evil, with women wearing heavy jewellery, sheepskin capes and coin accesories, while men dress in maroon gowns with cummerbunds.
KARAKUL CAP:
The Kashmiri Karakul cap comes in two styles - a collapsible boar shape and a hard ellipticle shape - while turband, symbolising honour, are traditionally worn by priests of most religious shrines in Kashmir.
MYSORE PETA:
The Mysore Peta from Karnataka is a traditional headgear once worn by kings ans scholars, now a sybbol of honour and respect presented during cultural and academic events.
The Zamindar Pagri from Punjab signifies authority and dignity, historically wirn by landowners, with its elaborate folds and rich fabric representing prosperity.
GONDA - LADAKHI CAP:
The Ladakhi Headgear (Perak) from Ladakh is an emblem of social status, featuring turquoise stones and spiritual symbolism that reflects the region's Tibetan influence.
The Puneri Turban is a symbol of honour and pride in Puned, dates back to the 17th century when "Kostis" crafted them during fortnightly home visits.
The Gujarati turban called Phento, is large loosely rolled, brightly coloured turban traditionally worn with a cottondress called Charno by rural men in Gujarat.
