In 2022, the Royal Mint (UK) issued the last Gold Sovereign featuring the portrait of (Late) Queen Elizabeth. Future issues will have the effigy of King Charles III on the Obverse.

The Royal Mint, UK struck a new range of its prestigious Sovereign bullion coins featuring a new design by the numismatic artist Timothy Noad. 

Known as the "chief coin of the world", The Sovereign is struck in 22 carat gold and guaranteed to five decimal places, making it the most tightly specified coin in the world.

 Each coin goes through a rigorous process under The Royal Mint’s strict bullion standard.

The Gold Bullion Sovereign with the new design:

This Gold Bullion Coin features an exclusive Reverse design, which was created for The late Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebration. 

The Cover is titled - "THE ROYAL MINT- THE ORIGINAL MAKER". Below is the Title - "The Sovereign". 

The Reverse of the Sovereign bears the Coat of Arms of the United Kingdom (UK), with the year of issue - "2022" at the bottom.


- The Obverse of the Sovereign bears the fifth definitive coinage portrait of The Late Queen Elizabeth II.

On the Coin Card is mentioned the specifications of the Coin in brief

"Weight: 7.98 grams, Alloy: 916.67 FINE GOLD, Diameter: 22.05 mm; Quality: Bullion.

The Gold Bullion Coin is finished to The Royal Mint’s bullion standard.

The weight and purity of each Sovereign coin is assured by Royal Proclamation.

The Sovereign 2022 bullion range also includes a Half-Sovereign, Double-Sovereign and Quarter-Sovereign bullion coin.
