1713) The Ancient Pyramid of Khafre (Egypt), Djibouti: A 250 Francs Silver Coin in a 3-D Pyramidical shape, recreates the Pyramid in all its magnificent beauty: Year of Coin issue: 2021:
Built more than 4,400 years ago, the three Pyramids of Giza stand on the west bank of the Nile River. Named after the Kings for whom they were built, they are Khufu, Khafre and Menkaure.
The Pyramid of Khafre is the second-tallest and second-largest of the 3 Ancient Egyptian Pyramids of Giza and the tomb of the Fourth-Dynasty pharaoh Khafre (Chefren), who ruled c. 2558−2532 BC.
The pyramid has a base length of 215.5 metres (706 ft) and rises up to a height of 136.4 metres (448 ft). It is made of limestone blocks weighing more than 2 tons each. The slope of the pyramid rises at a 53° 13' angle, steeper than its neighbor, the Pyramid of Khufu, which has an angle of 51°50'24". Khafre's pyramid sits on bedrock 10 m (33 ft) higher than Khufu's pyramid, which makes it appear to be taller.
Magnificent Egyptian-Themed Pyramid-Shaped Coin:
Released by the Republic of Djibouti, a nation located on the Horn of Africa along the Red Sea South of Egypt, to create this fascinating masterpiece, a State-of-the-Art five-piece die setup and special bands were used to strike each side multiple times with equal pressure.
Then, the entire coin was given an antiqued finish giving the piece an appearance of age, perfectly matching it with its ancient Egyptian theme. — a painstaking process normally done by hand, with no two pieces being exactly alike.
The Reverse of the 250 Francs Silver intricate pyramid-shaped coin beautifully recreates the pyramid built for Khafre, son of Khufu, right down to the gold plating for the cap of the pyramid.
Additional images have been struck into each side, including Pharaoh Khafre himself, the Great Sphinx, the Sun God Ra and the God of Death, Anubis:
