About EUROPA Stamps:

EUROPA Stamps are special stamps issued by European postal administrations.

They bear the official EUROPA logo, a PostEurop registered trademark under the aegis of PostEurop in which Europe is the central theme.

EUROPA stamp issues are among the most collected and most popular stamps in the world and have been issued for over 60 years.

Every year a new theme is assigned by PostEurop and all participating countries issue stamps with their own interpretation of the theme. The theme for 2025 is "National Archeological Discoveries"

More about EUROPA Postage Stamps:

EUROPA Postage stamps (also known as Europa - CEPT - European Conference of Postal and Telecommunications Administrations - until 1992) are special stamps issued by European Postal Administrations/Enterprises and bears the official EUROPA logo, a PostEurop registered trademark under the aegis of PostEurop in which Europe is the central theme.

EUROPA stamps underline cooperation in the posts domain, aimed at promotion of philately. They also build awareness of the common roots, culture and history of Europe and its common goals.

As such, EUROPA stamp issues are among the most collected and most popular stamps in the world.

Since the first issue in 1956, EUROPA stamps have been a tangible symbol of Europe's desire for closer integration and co-operation.

In 1993, PostEurop became responsible for issuing EUROPA stamps.

When CEPT decided to focus more on telecommunications in 1993, PostEurop took over the management of the Europa issues. The CEPT logo was replaced by a new logo created by PostEurop i.e. the word "EUROPA" leaning towards the right hand side.

Each year, PostEurop's "Stamps & Philately Group" selects the EUROPA stamp theme:

About EUROPA - National Archaeological Discoveries, Latvia Latvijas Pasts (Latvian Post) has issued one EUROPA Stamp of €3.77) featuring the the Razbuki necklace, an individually crafted ornament that signified special social status for its wearer:

Contributing to this year’s series, on 9 May, Latvijas Pasts has released a     stamp        and specially designed envelope      dedicated           to a rare archaeological find — the Razbuki necklace, an individually crafted       ornament that signified the special social status for its wearer.

Such ornaments are rare in Latvia, and the Razbuki necklace, dating to the 3rd century, is the most remarkable finding of its kind.  Only a few similar specimens have been discovered in the Baltic regions of Lithuania and East Prussia. Each such ornament is an individually handcrafted piece, unique and unrepeated, symbolising the special social status of its wearer.

Personal adornments or ornaments crafted using the pierced openwork technique are considered as the most exceptional ornamental metalwork achievement of the Early or Roman Iron Age in the Baltic region

They best exemplify the geometric style so characteristic of the Balts. It emerged in the Western Baltic region, encompassing East Prussia, West Lithuania and South-West Latvia, during the 1st and 2nd centuries.

Its development was shaped by the influence of Celtic and Roman provincial cultures, which spread through the area along the Amber Road.

The Razbuki necklace exemplifies the advanced metalworking craftsmanship in Latvia during that period, revealing cultural distinctiveness of the Baltic peoples within the broader European context.

The stamp has a face value of €3.77, which covers the postage for international letter correspondence weighing up to 20 grams.

These new philatelic items were designed by artist Arta Ozola-Jaunarāja, who skilfully brought to light not only the unique value of the ornament, but also its cultural and historical significance.

The new stamp, issued in 10,000 copies, and the specially designed envelope, available in a limited edition of 500 copies, both feature the Razbuki necklace.
