2604) FIFA World Cup, Qatar: A 22 Riyal Banknote issued by the Qatar Central Bank (QCB) commemorates the popular Sports Competition: Date of Banknote issue: 09.12.2022:

This was a race against time. On 09.11.2022, the Qatar Central Bank issued a 22 Riyal commemorative Banknote to celebrate the FIFA World Cup - 2022 ending today. My friend Jayant booked this Banknote, which arrived a couple of days ago. The high-quality scans were done yesterday.

I sat through late night yesterday and posted this early on the morning of 18th (i.e., today). The post has gone up way before the finals being played today. That was our objective & we succeeded in doing so.

About FIFA 2022 at Qatar:

Qatar was chosen to host the 2022 World Cup in a controversial decision that resulted in numerous allegations.

This was the first time that Qatar was chosen to host the event. Qatar won its bid on 02.12.2010, defeating bids from South Korea, Japan, Australia and the United States.

The bidding process involved four rounds and a visit by the Bid Evaluation Task Force to assess each bid’s feasibility. Qatar is the first Arab and Middle Eastern country to organize the tournament. Thirty-two teams, including that from the United States, will compete from Nov. 20 until the championship game on Dec. 18.

This tournament has 32 teams from all over the world including Qatar, Ecuador, Senegal, Netherlands, England, Iran, USA, Wales, Argentina, Saudi Arabia, Mexico, Poland, France, Australia, Denmark, Tunisia, Spain, Costa Rica, Germany, Japan, Belgium, Canada, Morocco, Croatia, Brazil, Serbia, Switzerland, Cameroon, Portugal, Ghana, Uruguay, South Korea.

The matches were played in a total of 8 stadiums. They are Al Bayt Stadium, Lusail Stadium, Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium, Al Janoub Stadium, Al Thumama Stadium, Education City Stadium, Khalifa International Stadium, Stadium 974.

Al Bayt stadium hosted the first match of the World Cup 22’. The stadium has a capacity of 60,000 seats which makes it one of the largest stadiums in Qatar. Lusali Stadium which has the largest capacity at 80,000 people will hold the final match on 18.12.2022.

A world-class experience:

Qatar 2022 will be remembered for its ability to create a world-class experience for fans and players alike.

The stadiums are state-of-the-art and offer a unique opportunity to experience football at its finest. The world cup will be held from 20th November 2022 to 18th December 2022.

The 2022 FIFA World Cup is the 22nd edition of the FIFA World Cup and Qatar is the first Middle Eastern country to host the tournament.

QATAR 22 RIYALS COMMEMORATIVE BANKNOTE:

A Commemorative Banknote issued by the Qatar Central Bank:

One last minute surprise that was announced to the general public on 09.11.2022 by the Qatar Central Bank was a "Qatar 22" Riyal banknote that commemorates the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

This is a commemorative banknote, and it is being sold for more than its initial face value.

It is made out of polymer and it comes in a gold, brown, green and white color scheme.

The Qatar Central Bank (QCB) held a special event to introduce a FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™ commemorative "QAR 22" Banknote, which symbolises the 22nd time that a FIFA World Cup is being played as well as the year "2022".

The event was attended by QCB Governor and the Secretary General, Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (SC), along with FIFA President and other important dignitaries.

This Banknote celebrates Qatar’s hard work and dedication in hosting the first FIFA World Cup™ in the Middle East and Arab world.

The strategic collaboration between QCB, the SC and FIFA led to the issue of this memorable and historical commemorative Banknote, which bears the FIFA World Cup™ logo of this event and also features Al Bayt Stadium and Lusail Stadium.

The Banknote reflects Qatar’s cultural heritage and football history.

It is the first commemorative note printed by QCB to be made from polymer.

The World Cup trophy and Qatar 2022 logo are displayed on each side, one of which has a picture of Lusail Stadium, with Al Bayt Stadium on the other. The two stadiums are the venues for the opening and the final World Cup match.

One side is printed in English, the other in Arabic. Also found in the background of the note is the Qatar National emblem, the Doha skyline, a dhow and Zubara fort.

The Commemorative Banknote Album:

On the Obverse of the 22 Riyal Commemorative Banknote is featured Al Bayt Stadium, a Dhow sailing ship and Al Zubara Fort.

In the center one finds the Qatar 2022 logo and a world map behind it.

In addition there is cursive text reading: “Qatar Central Bank TwentyTwo Riyals”.

Also, in the clear window one can find the world cup trophy as a security device.

This makes it the first ever official world cup banknote with the FIFA World Cup Logo on it.

On the Reverse of the 22 Riyal Commemorative Banknote is seen an image of the Lusail Stadium, the Doha skyline as well as older buildings.

In the center is depicted the Qatari Coat of Arms and the Qatar 2022 identical to the front.
