Regional Examining Board (Training) -Platinum Jubilee (1949-2024): A Special Cover issued by the Army Post Office (APO):

The Special Cover (SC) is titled "Regional Examining Board (Trg) - Indian Air Force 75 Glorious Years - Platinum Jubilee (1949-2024)".

At top right is affixed a 500 Paise (Rs.5/-) postage stamp cancelled with a special cancellation stamp featuring an special cancellation of the Indian Airforce logo.

The postal address is of 56 APO and the date of Cancellation is 08.11.2024.

The Back of the Special Cover (SC) gives the serial no. of the Cover as APS/56/2024 on top. At the bottom is the issuing authority - Addl. Dte Gen APS C/0 56 APO

The Information Brochure gives the following description:

" Brief History of Regional Examining Board (Training):

1. Central School Trade Testing Board (CSTTB) was formed at AF Station Jalahalli on 15 December 1949 by merging erstwhile "School Trade Testing Boards" located at Training Schools.

The task assigned was to conduct final examinations of ab-initio and conversion course trainees of erstwhile No. 1,2 and 3 Ground Training School (GTS).

2. On 03 September 1955, the School moved to AF Station Jalahalli to the premises of HQ Training Command at High Grounds and subsequently in April 1958, it was re-located in the premises of Headquarter Training Command at Hebbal, Bangalore.

3. Consequent to formation of No.2 CSTTB in the year 1965 at AF Station Tambaram, CSTTB was re-designated as No. 1 CSTTB. The task of examining the candidates from 1 & 2 GTS was transferred to No. 2 CSTTB and No. 1 CSTTB was tasked with examining the trainees from training schools located at AF Station Jalahalli.

In 1970, No. 1 CSTTB was redesignated as No. 8 CSTTB, AF. In 1980, the post of Commanding Officer of the School was upgraded from Sqn Ldr to Wg Cdr.

In September 1986, once again the Unit was re-designated as No. 11 Trade Examining Borad (TEB).

4. The Unit was re-established as Regional Examining Board (Training) in 2005 to cover ab-initio and in-service examination activities for all trades of IAF.

On 31 January 2020, the Unit moved to AF Station Begumpet from HQ TC Campus Bengaluru.

5. The Unit follows the fundamental principal of "Impartial Examination, Proficient Trainee". It has successfully conducted examinations for the trainees of varied training patterns namely "All Through Training (ATT), Encapsulated Pattern of Training (EPT), Modular Pattern of Training (MPT) and Integrated Pattern of Training (IPT).

6. In June 2022, The Govt of India introduced new Human Resource Management Scheme named "Agnipath" for induction of soldiers as "Agniveers" in the Armed Forces. The IAF once again witnessed a change in the Training Pattern of the trainees. The Board rose to the occasion and accepted the new challenge for online conduct of the examinations for Agniveers.

The Boad within a short span of time, equipped itself with the nuances of online examination and successfully conducted the final examination in May 2023. It added a feather in the cap when the final examinations were conducted for "Agniveervayu" (men and women) in November 2023.

7. The Board endeavours to continually conduct fair and impartial examinations. It is evident with the receipt of praises and accolades the Unit has received from the organisation for inducting the proficient and efficient air warriors.

The Unit continues to strive to live upto the motto of"

"Impartial Examination, Proficient Trainee."
