2088) Christmas Wonderland - 2021, Australia: Perth Mint Australia has issued a $2 (Two Dollars - AUD), Antique Finish Silver Coin with traditional Christmas imagery and a Gold-plated Hexagonal Snowflake in the centre: Date/Year of Coins issue: 2021:
Christmas Wonderland 2021 $2 Silver Coin:
In the Northern Hemisphere, Christmas is associated with snow and ice due to its proximity to the winter solstice. Among many popular traditions is the beloved notion of Santa Clause arriving with gifts aboard his reindeer-pulled sleigh.
Iconic Christmas scene:
The Reverse of the Antiqued $2 (Two Dollars - AUD) Silver Coin portrays a joyous Christmas Eve scene with excited children playing in the snow.
Incorporating The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark, the design includes gold coloured accents signifying, among other things, light emanating from cosy homes and fairy lights on Christmas trees.
Encased in the coin’s centre is a 24-carat gold-plated insert representing a six-pointed snowflake.
Symbolising their many wondrous hexagonal shapes in nature, the snowflake insert can be made to gently rotate by moving the coin.
The Obverse of the Antiqued $2 (Two Dollars - AUD) Silver Coin is seen the snowflake in the centre, with images of various snow-flake shapes along the inner periphery. A right facing profile image of Queen Elizabeth II is depicted on top.
On the outer periphery is inscribed - "ELIZABETH II. AUSTRALIA. 2 OZ. 9999 Ag. 2021. 2 DOLLARS.".
Festive presentation:
The coin is housed in a classic display case with a clear lid. Packaged in a festive gift box with a white bow, it comes with a numbered Certificate of Authenticity.
