1987) Mount Elbrus, Caucasus Mountain   Range, Russia: 25 Dollars Silver High   Relief Coin:    The sixth coin in the 7-Summits Coin Series issued by the Cook Islands in      co-ordination      with Coin Invest Trust (CIT) and minted      by B.H. Mayer's Kunstprageanstalt GmbH issued in 09/2021:

The 7-Summits included in this Coin Series have featured on several Coins/Coin Series across the world, over the years. Coin Invest Trust (CIT) too has previously issued coins with mountains and flora as their themes.

This seven coin series is a new and highly exclusive limited-edition series dedicated to the world's seven most spectacular peaks, beginning with the Series initiator - DENALI - which was presented during the 2016 American Numismatic Association (ANA) World Fair of Money (WFM) exhibition.

The Reverse of the first coin in the Series issued in 2016 is titled "Denali-Alaska Range - North America - The 7 Summits"

The coins have been minted in breath-taking highly detailed, three-dimensional topographic relief with its exclusive "Smartminting" technology which is the hallmark of CIT's innovative Silver Coin Minting technology, with a refined selective colour application, that accentuates the mountain ridges and valleys, these coins are a beautiful and fascinating numismatic work of art.

All the coins in the Series are being minted by B.H. Mayer's Kunstprageanstalt GmbH.

The "DENALI" Coin was followed by three other issues so far - "MOUNT EVEREST" (2017), "ACONCAGUA" (2018), "MOUNT KILIMANJARO" (2019), "CARSTENZ PYRAMID" (2020):

The 7-Summits Silver Coin Series:

The sixth Coin in this popular Coin Series depicts Mount Elbrus, which is the highest and most prominent peak in Russia and Europe. It is situated in the western part of the Caucasus and is the highest peak of the Caucasus Mountains.

The dormant volcano rises 5,642 m (18,510 ft) above sea level; it is the highest stratovolcano in Eurasia, as well as the tenth-most prominent peak in the world. The mountain stands in Southern Russia, in the Russian Republic of Kabardino-Balkaria.

Elbrus has two summits, both of which are dormant volcanic domes. The taller, western summit is 5,642 metres (18,510 ft); the eastern summit is 5,621 metres (18,442 ft).

The eastern summit was first ascended on 10 July 1829 by Khillar Khachirov, and the western summit in 1874 by a British expedition led by F. Crauford Grove and including Frederick Gardner, Horace Walker, and the Swiss guide Peter Knubel.

The Coin:

This 6th edition of the Seven Summits series impresses with Coin Invest Trust's (CIT's) enhanced smartminting® technology and a refined coloring that shows the heavily glaciated, dormant volcano in all its beauty.

The detailed topographic relief, in 5 oz silver, is a reminder of how ambitious the first ascent must have been in 1874.  The ultra-high relief extends well above the surface of the coin.

On the Reverse of the 25 Dollars Silver Coin is seen the Elbrus, Caucasus Mountains, Eurasia, from a bird's eye-perspective, its majestic heights cast in three-dimensional topographic relief.

The peripheral inscriptions are - "ELBRUS. 5642 M. CAUCASUS MOUNTAINS. EURASIA". On the lower periphery is inscribed the Series name - "THE 7-SUMMITS".

The Silver Coin placed on its side shows the High Relief Contours of Mount Elbrus.

On the Obverse of the 25 Dollars Silver Coin is seen an effigy of Queen Elizabeth II facing right. The initials of the effigy designer "Ian Rank-Broadley" (IRB) appear below the Queen's neck. The peripheral inscriptions are - 'ELIZABETH II, COOK ISLANDS, 25 DOLLARS, .999" (Fineness Silver).
