"Brief History:
27th Battalion The Mechanised Infantry Regiment:
1. The Battalion was raised on 17 Jul 2017 at Bhusawal under the aegis of HQ MIC&S by Col A.S. Rathore as the first Commanding Officer. The Battalion is an "All India, All Class" composition with personnel pooled in from all sister battalions of the Regt to form the raising team.
2. The Battalion was declared "FIT FOR WAR" after its validation exercise was carried out with colplete equipment and manpower followed by field firing and floation training at KK RangesAhmednagar from 06 Apr 2018 to 15 May 2018.
Post completion of validation, the battalion moved under the ORBAT of HQ 18 Armd Bde at Jodhpur on 05 Apr 2019.
3. During the tenure at Jodhpur, apart from annual training events, the battalion participated in annual "Exercises with Troops" (EsWT) namely Ex DAKSHIN SHAKTI, Ex TRISHAKTI PRAHAR to prove its mettle.
The battalion earned the honour of being Div Champions by lifting SHAHBAAZ Banner for the year 2021-22 securing 1st Position in 36 RAPID (S). Thereafter, the Battalion secured runners up position in SHAHBAAZ Banner Championship during 2022-24 in 36 RAPID (S) which included being Div X-Country Champions for two consecutive years and winning the X-Country replica.
For exceptional performance in training, operations and administration, the Battalion was awarded the GOC-in-C Southern Command Unit Appreciation - 2021.
The Battalion was deployed in 15 Corps Zone for the Highway Dominance & Convoy Protection (HIDCOP) duties from14 Mar to 24 Dec 2024. The battalion undertook the duties in the Counter Insurgency & Counter Terrorism environment during critical times and ensured incident free Amarnath Yatra-2023 and G-20 Summit.
Presently, the unit is deployed in the HAA, under the ORBAT of 254 (I) Armd Bde from Aug 2024.
