Commonwealth Secretariat:
The Commonwealth Secretariat is the main intergovernmental agency and central institution of the Commonwealth of Nations. It is responsible for facilitating co-operation between members; organising meetings, including the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meetings (CHOGM) - assisting and advising on policy development and providing assistance to countries in implementing the decisions and policies of the Commonwealth.
The Secretariat has observer status in the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
It is located at Marlborough House in London, the United Kingdom, a former royal residence that was given by Queen Elizabeth II, who is the current Head of the Commonwealth.
The Secretariat was established by Heads of Government in 1965, taking over many of the functions of the United Kingdom Government's Commonwealth Relations Office, as part of a major shake-up of the organisation of the Commonwealth.

"The guiding principles of the Commonwealth Secretariat are embodied in the Commonwealth Charter embracing democracy, human rights, international peace and understanding, freedom of expression, separation of powers, rule of law, good governance, sustainable development, protecting the environment, access to health, education, food and shelter, gender equality, importance of young people in the Commonwealth, recognition of the needs of small states, recognition of the needs of vulnerable states, the role of a civil society".
The Secretariat has as its vision:
To help create and sustain a Commonwealth that is mutually respectful, resilient, peaceful and prosperous, and that cherishes quality, diversity and shared values."
ITS MISSION IS:
To support member governments, and partner with the broader Commonwealth family and others to improve the well-being of all Commonwealth citizens and to advance their shared interests globally.
The Commonwealth symbolises the transformation of the Crown from an emblem of dominion into a symbol of free and voluntary association. In all history, this has no precedent.
Every year since 1977 Commonwealth Day has been celebrated on the second Monday in March. On that day, the Queen attends an inter-denominational service at Westminster Abbey.
Every two years the Commonwealth Heads of Government meeting is held, hosted by one of the member countries, the Queen in normally present.
In 2015, this meeting was held in Malta on 27 to 29.11. Every four years athletes from the Commonwealth come together for the Commonwealth Games.
