The Tamworth festival will mark its 50th anniversary in 2022, and is celebrated in this exceptional 2022 50c Uncirculated Coin.
The Tamworth Country Music Festival has evolved into Australia’s largest annual festival overall and in 2022, the event celebrates its 50th anniversary year.
Staged over a 10-day period in Tamworth, New South Wales, commencing from Friday to Sunday in mid to late January each year, the schedule will often include "Australia Day", (the "National Day of Remembrance"). In 2022, it is scheduled to be organised from 14.01.2022 to 23.01.2022.

About the Festival Origins:
The Festival’s origins began as a talent search in 1968 by the-then Tamworth Branch of the Modern Country Music Association, now the Capital Country Music Association (CCMA).
The quest for talent was arranged over the long weekend of Australia Day and it is this initiative that is considered a major influence in what was to become the festival by January 1973.
In 1973, Tamworth hosted the inaugural Country Music Festival, now Australia’s largest music festival, held over ten days each January.
As a country music event, Tamworth ranks second only to the world’s biggest at Nashville, Tennessee, which was first staged in 1972.
The Coin:
The Reverse of the 50 Cents Commemorative Coin Variants is dominated by the iconic golden guitar that is synonymous with the Tamworth Country Music Festival.
Rich with detail, the backdrop of the coin is inspired by the festival stage, illuminated with beaming light.
A winding road below the guitar leads to the stage, highlighting the distance festival-goers and artists alike travel to get to the Tamworth Country Music Festival. The text surrounding the primary design reads - "TAMWORTH COUNTRY MUSIC FESTIVAL" with the commemorative text "50TH ANNIVERSARY" placed just to the lower-right of the guitar.
On the Obverse of the 50 Cents Commemorative Coin Variants is depicted an effigy of Queen Elizabeth II designed by Jody Clark, whose initials "JC" appear below the Queen's neck.
The peripheral inscriptions are - "ELIZABETH II. AUSTRALIA. 2022. 50 CENTS". The silver Proof version features a selectively gold-plated application on the guitar.
