Once upon a time, there was a sweet girl known as Little Red Riding Hood, named after the red velvet hood her grandmother made for her. One day, her mother asked her to take a basket of cake and wine to her sick grandmother, who lived deep in the woods. She warned Little Red Riding Hood to stay on the path and not to talk to strangers.

As she walked through the forest, Little Red Riding Hood met a wolf. Unaware of his wicked nature, she told him where she was going. The wolf, eager to eat both the girl and her grandmother, devised a plan. He suggested that she pick some flowers for her grandmother, which distracted her and allowed him to reach the grandmother's house first. There, he tricked the grandmother, swallowed her whole, and disguised himself in her clothes, lying in wait for Little Red Riding Hood.

When Little Red Riding Hood arrived, she noticed something strange about her "grandmother." She commented on her grandmother's big eyes, ears, and teeth. The wolf, pretending to be her grandmother, replied, "All the better to see you with," "All the better to hear you with," and finally, "All the better to eat you with!" At this point, the wolf jumped out of bed and devoured Little Red Riding Hood as well.

In some versions of the story, a woodcutter hears the commotion and rushes to the rescue. He cuts open the wolf, freeing both Little Red Riding Hood and her grandmother, who are shaken but unharmed. This ending emphasises the theme of rescue and safety, contrasting with the darker versions where the wolf triumphs.

The tale of Little Red Riding Hood serves as a cautionary story about the dangers of talking to strangers and straying from the path. It highlights the importance of obedience and the potential consequences of naivety.

American Literature about Little Red Riding Hood:

One of the best-known classic fairy-tale characters is the first motif of the new series “Fairy tales”: Little Red Riding Hood, the little girl who has a dramatic encounter with a wolf.

The story of Little Red Riding Hood is well known:

On her way through the forest to visit her grandmother, the girl meets the wolf, who persuades her to stop and pick flowers for her.

Meanwhile, the wolf hurries ahead to the grandmother’s house, devours her and takes her place in bed. Although puzzled by the old woman’s appearance, Little Red Riding Hood fails to recognise the wolf and is eaten as well.

In the end, a huntsman rescues both of them from the wolf’s belly, and the wolf dies.
