The 35-Euro Silver Coin, the third motif in the "Formative Women Coin Series", pays highlights the German politician "Elisabeth Schwarzhaupt" – the first woman to serve as a minister in a cabinet of the Federal Republic of Germany.

Background information:

Dr. Elisabeth Schwarzhaupt (1901–1986) was one of the most important pioneers of equal rights for women in Germany.

After studying law, she was already committed to women's rights in the 1930s and became the first senior church councillor in 1945.

As a CDU politician, she showed great courage when she voted against her parliamentary group for the Equal Rights Act in 1957.

In 1961, she became the first female federal minister and campaigned for health reforms, environmental protection and consumer protection.

Although she herself spoke of a role as an "alibi woman", she opened up access to top political offices for women.

Her courage, perseverance and sense of justice make her a role model to this day.

Marianne Dietz designed this coin with the portrait of the first female minister of the Federal Republic of Germany in a finely modelled and expressive way.

The design on the Reverse of the 35 Euro Coin presents the bust of Elizabeth Schwarzhaupt as she directs a pensive, observing gaze at the viewer.

The name "ELIZABETH SCHWARZHAUPT" skilfully blends into the round of the coin, with the surname accentuated in the lower edge of the bust inverted.

The Obverse of the 35 Euro Gold Coin depicts a stylised/dignified eagle centred with the year of issue "2026" placed just under and the on the lower right periphery, while the denomination of the Coin "35 EURO" is shown below the eagle on the bottom periphery.

The issuing Country - "BUNDESREPUBLIK DEUTSCHLAND" is placed on the upper periphery.

On the outer periphery are 12 stars representing the European Union arranged in the lower to the right half in a semi-circle.
