4431) Women’s Colleges of Delhi, Bharat/India: Bhartiya Dak/India Post has issued a set of four Postage Stamps of 500 Paise (Rs.5/-) each featuring prominent Women's Colleges in Delhi - Miranda House, Lady Shri Ram, Kamala Nehru College and Gargi College: Date/Year of Stamp issue: 25.03.2026:
India Post has a tradition of issuing commemorative stamps that highlight educational institutions, cultural heritage, and social milestones. Among these, a special set was released to honor women’s colleges in Delhi, recognising their role in advancing women’s education and empowerment.
Featured Colleges:
The stamps in this series showcase some of Delhi’s most prominent women’s colleges, including:
Miranda House (University of Delhi) –
Established in 1948, known for excellence in liberal arts and sciences.
Lady Shri Ram College for Women (LSR) – Founded in 1956, a leader in social sciences, humanities, and commerce.
Gargi College –
Founded in 1967, offering diverse programs in arts, commerce, and sciences.
Kamala Nehru College –
Established in 1964, named after the freedom fighter and social reformer.
Design Elements:
Each stamp typically features the college building façade or emblem.
The designs emphasise heritage architecture and the academic spirit.
India Post often uses vibrant colours and detailed line work to make the institutions recognisable.
The Purpose of this Stamp issue is:
To celebrate women’s education in India and to highlight institutions in Delhi that have shaped generations of women leaders.
