The Ragnarok:

This is a unique version of the next coin in the Ragnarök series by Germania Mint.

The collection presents scenes from the mythical end of the world – the twilight of the gods, after which the order known to the gods will cease to exist.

The full composition of this 2 oz Coin, depicts the two opponents – Thor and Jörmungandr – facing each other in a deadly confrontation.

A battle that will ultimately result in the death of both.

Ragnarök - the Destiny of the Gods:

- Timelessly embodies the cycle of destruction and renewal, symbolising enduring hope and rebirth despite despair.

- And finally, the time will come when the decrees of fate are fulfilled, when the world ends. The time of Ragnarök, the Destiny of the Gods… Embark with us on a journey that will take you through the end of the world.

- The dramatic Ragnarök is a battle between light and darkness, leading to destruction and renewal.

- On that memorable day, gods and titans stood against each other, signalling the fall of the ancient order.

- First, the terrifying barking of Garm, the hound of hell, was heard.

- Loki and Fenrir broke free from their bonds to seek revenge on the gods.

- Heimdall blew the Gjallarhorn for the last time… Amidst the destruction, a few survivors in the mystical Yggdrasil initiated a new era.

- The Ragnarök coin series from Germania Mint timelessly embodies this cycle of destruction and renewal, symbolising enduring hope and rebirth despite despair.

The entire collection allows you to immerse yourself in the world of the mythical end of the world, which brings an end to the reign of the gods and transforms the order known until then.

As mentioned in the book titled “OLD WORLD MYTHOLOGY Myths and Legends of Europe, Africa and Asia” in my personal library:

Thor:

Thor and his Hammer:

Thor is a God about whom the majority of Myths from Old Scadinavia were told.

He functioned as a cosmic protector of man and Gods alike.

Thor seems to be very widely venerated as a God of thunder and lightning, as well as the weather generally.

His popularity can be seen from the extremely frequent use of his name in the formarion of many Scandinavian personal names such as – Thorliefr, Thorlakr etc.

In Southern Gemanic Areas he was known as “Donar”, the Anglo Saxon Britons called him “Thunor’ and in Viking Age Britain (8^th to 11^th Centuries AD) he was usually called “Thur” or “Thor” closely following the Scandinavian form of the name.

In the 10^th and 11^th century in Sweden Thor and his hammer can be seen in a number of gravestones.

The Ragnarok is elaborated as under:

”When Heimdall, the God who guards the entrance to Asgard blows his trumpet. It will sound the beginning of the Ragnarok.

The fate of the Gods was predestined at a future time there would be a great battle – gods against monsters and giants and humans against humans, in which most would be destroyed.

It is said that the great battle will begin thus, after a winter lasting three years, wolves will devour the sun and moon. Loki and his children, the goddess Hel and Fenrir the wolf will be released by earthquakes.

With the frost giants, they will sail to meet the gods in battle.

The Midgard Serpent, another of Loki’s children will swell the waves and the water will engulf the land.

Warned by Heimdall’s horn the gods with the fallen warriors gathered at Valhalla in Asgard, will advance with Odin at their head.

Most will die in the battle and a great fire will sweep the Earth. Only the sons of Odin and Thor and the daughter of the sun will survive.

Baldr and his blond brother will be freed from Hell and thw World will begin again”.

Jörmungandr, a mighty sea serpent.

He was one of the children of the god Loki and the giantess Angrboða. According to the myths, his enormous body encircled the entire world. Jörmungandr is depicted in the moment preceding his final confrontation with Thor – one of the most powerful gods. Their battle during Ragnarök symbolizes the inevitable clash of powerful forces, the consequences of which will change the fate of the gods and the entire world.

Viking Quest

THE MIDGARD SERPENT - JOGMUNDUR A VIKING ERA MOVIE:

The Midgard Serpent, also known as Jörmungandr, is a significant figure in Norse mythology, symbolizing chaos and the cyclical nature of existence.

In the 2015 medieval-fantasy movie "Viking Quest," the Midgard Serpent is depicted as a gigantic snake-like creature capable of surviving on land and capable of breathing fire.

The film's plot revolves around a group of Vikings who attempt to rescue Princess Tasya from the Serpent, which is said to require the sacrifice of a princess of royal blood to prevent it from destroying the world.

The Serpent is ultimately defeated by a man named Erick the Blessed, who kills it with a metal spear during a thunderstorm. This act saves the world and future princesses from the Serpent's depredations.

The Coin:

The Reverse of the 10 Mark Coin captures one of the most dramatic moments of Ragnarök – the epic battle between Thor and Jörmungandr, the gigantic Midgard Serpent.

- The mighty god of thunder faces an adversary whose colossal body encircles the world.

- Thor delivers a fatal blow to Jörmungandr with his legendary hammer, Mjölnir, yet victory comes at a price.

- In the final moments of its life, the serpent poisons Thor with its deadly venom. Their clash is a symbol of inevitable fate – even the greatest of the gods cannot escape the destiny foretold for him at Ragnarök.

The dynamic composition is enhanced with pyrite and apatite inlays. The coin is further ennobled with a Black Light Colours effect. When illuminated with UV light, the composition reveals an intense, luminous glow, giving the scene an entirely new dimension.

The Obverse of the 10 Mark Coin features the symbols of Jörmungandr and Mjölnir, Thor’s legendary artifact, as well as the double-headed eagle, the Coat of Arms of Germania Mint.
