About Dog Breeds:
The dog is the oldest domesticated animal – humans have been accompanied by dogs for an incredible fourteen thousand years.
At first, the dog proved himself to be a guard who devotes himself to protecting his master's property and life, and as an excellent helper in hunting.
As human society changed, so did the role of the dog, which became an integral part of it.
The versatile beast can steer cattle herds, drag sleds across frozen waste, look for explosives, help the handicapped, ... For every task a person prepares for a dog, another of hundreds of different breeds have been found suitable.

About the Bernese Mountain Dog - "Dog Breed" - (Seventh Coin in the Series):
The seventh silver coin of the Czech Mint from the Coin Series titled - "Dog Breeds" is dedicated to the Bernese Mountain Dog.
As its name suggests, the Swiss canton of Bern is considered to be the cradle of the Bernese mountain dog.
In the past, this versatile working breed herded cattle, guarded farms and served people who could not afford horses to pull carts and carry loads to markets.
Presently, these tri-coloured giants are primarily popular pets, eager to please their owner.
Their muscular body with strong limbs inspires respect, but in reality they have a calm nature and a positive attitude towards life.
They love being outdoors due to their farming origins. They are particularly fond of the snow and, like another Swiss breed - the St. Bernard - they can search for people lost in snowdrifts and under avalanches.
The Coin:
The Obverse of the $1 (One Dollar - NZD) Silver Coin bears an effigy of Queen Elizabeth II (since the Coins of the Czech Mint are licensed by the foreign issuer, the island of Niue).
Also seen on this face is the denominational value of "1 DOLLAR (NZD)", "NUIE ISLAND" and the year of issue "2022".
