The Treasury of Ascension Island is releasing new coins which highlight the
134th ANA annual convention.
The Reverse side features "THE END OF THE TRAIL" sculpture
on display in Oklahoma City.
In conjunction with Minted Assets and the American
Numismatic Association - ANA, the second set of collector coins to mark the
ANA’s annual World’s Fair of Money, this year hosted in Oklahoma City will be
exclusively available during the show.
The first legal tender commemorative collector coins to
focus on the ANA’s annual event were also issued last year by the Treasury of
Ascension and included designs and references to the show’s location in
Rosemont, Illinois.
For 2025, the newest set is designed by artist and
engraver Joel Iskowitz whose work featured on last year’s series.
Several references to Oklahoma City are included in the
design shared on all three options of gold, silver and silver-plate base metal.
The coins have been minted by the Osborne Mint, the
oldest private mint in the United States at their facilities in Cincinnati,
Ohio on behalf of the Treasury of Ascension and commissioned by Minted Assets
bullion distributors.
The Coins:
The Obverse side of the Silver and Gold Coins features an allegorical seated female
figure representing “NOMISMA”, (the Greek word for ‘Coin’) with this text placed
along her platform.
Her right arm is shown resting upon an image of the US
Oklahoma 25 cent coin issued in 2008 and which serves as the World's Fair of
Money 2025 logo.
In place of the 2008 issue date, the signature of Susan
Gamble, the quarter's designer, is displayed.
Below the quarter dollar’s image shown on the pillar is
the coins’ denomination "$100 (gold) $5 (silver) or $1 (base metal)".
On the right is a circular emblem containing the crest
and text "ASCENSION ISLAND" along with the coin’s precious metal specifications
of 1 OZ and the year of issue, 2025.
Above the primary design is the inscription along the
upper rim which reads E PLURIBUS UNUM (Out of Many, One).
The Reverse side of the Silver and Gold Coins pay tribute to numismatic
icon James Earle Fraser and his most famous sculpture “THE END OF THE TRAIL”
which is currently on display at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage
Museum in Oklahoma City.
The sculpture is placed to the left side with a prairie
landscape in the background and a lone bald eagle in flight next to the
sculpture.
Placed near the lower right is a circular emblem with a
profile image of “JAMES EARLE FRASER”.
Above the primary design is the commemorative text “OKLAHOMA
ANA” shown in stylised text and six five-pointed stars along the upper rim on
either side of the commemorative text.
The precious metal coins all have edge
lettering placed near the bottom portion of the coins containing the name “CHIEF
JOHN BIG TREE”, the Native American model used for the “End of the Trail”
sculpture and one of three models used on the famed Buffalo nickel Obverse side
which Fraser designed.

Available from the 19th August, the
distributor Minted Assets will be handing out approximately 250 complementary
base metal coins daily for five days of the 2025 event.

The coins, housed in a coin-card will be
available at Minted Assets tables (1132 and 1134) beginning at 1:pm local time
on Tuesday, the 19th August and at noon every day thereafter, Wednesday through
Saturday to the 23rd August.
- The coins will be available on a
first-come, first-served basis or while supplies last.
- Certified graded and ungraded versions of
the precious metal coins will be available for sale during the show. Coin
designer Joel Iskowitz will be at the Minted Assets table on Thursday, 21st
August to meet with visitors.
