The third coin in the series marks the 25th anniversary of the first publication of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.
When completed, the collection will include four-coin designs, with the next set featuring the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
Prof. Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore is a fictional character in the "Harry Potter Series".
For most of the series, he is the headmaster of the Wizarding School - Hogwarts.
As part of his backstory, he is the founder and leader of the "Order of the Phoenix", an organisation dedicated to fighting Lord Voldemort, the main antagonist of the series.
Dumbledore was portrayed by Richard Harris in the film adaptations of "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone" (2001) and "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets" (2002).
Following Harris' passing away in 10/2002, Michael Gambon portrayed Dumbledore in the six remaining Harry Potter films from 2004 to 2011.
Jude Law portrayed Dumbledore as a middle-aged man in the prequel films - "Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald" (2018) and "Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore" (2022).
The Coins:
The Reverse face of the new range of coins is designed by Ffion Gwillim, a product designer at the Royal Mint who has depicted Albus Dumbledore and is based on original designs of the Harry Potter collection and illustrations of Jim Kay, the artist who created the first fully illustrated edition of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.
Above the primary design is the text "ALBUS DUMBLEDORE" and to the right is a latent image application which includes the numeral "25" and a "lightning bolt".
The coins have colour applied to the design via utilisation of an advanced picosecond laser used by the Royal Mint during production.
The Obverse face of the Coins bears a left facing effigy of King Charles III, created by British sculptor Martin Jennings.
Each coin also includes the year of release "2023" and the denomination from "50 PENCE to 200 POUNDS" as part of the inscription surrounding the King’s image.
Also featured on the £2 one-ounce silver Proof option is an incused edge inscription which reads "NITWIT! BLUBBER! ODDMENT! TWEAK!"
