3425) "Cabay di Awa (2024)", Aruba: Seventh Coin in the Series minted by The Royal Dutch Mint (RDM) on behalf of Aruba: A 5 Florin Silver Prooflike Coin features the Seahorse: Year of Coin issue: 2024:
Unique Animals of Aruba:
Aruba is known for its amazing and unusual flora and fauna.
This series of commemorative coins for Aruba consists of seven coins:
The commemorative coin of this year is all about the Cabay di Awa, (Papiamento for seahorse).
The seahorse is one of the absolute Aruban attractions for lovers of diving and snorkeling. A seahorse, better known as “Cabay di Awa” in Papiamento, swims in the waters around Aruba. Now this animal has its own coin! The coin was minted exclusively at the Royal Dutch Mint and is also printed in full colour.
It can be difficult to spot a seahorse in the water, since they can hide very well in the coral. They prefer to hide near the soft or rocky seabed. Aruba has several species of seahorses in various colors and sizes: the largest known seahorse is 19 centimeters. The smallest seahorses are no bigger then the nail of a small child.
