There’s been a lot of talk about the growing influence of Artificial Intelligence or “AI” for short. While the potential risks of AI may seem distant and theoretical, the reality is that we are already experiencing the impact of intelligent machines in our daily lives.

This coin, for instance is the world’s FIRST shaped silver coin designed using Artificial Intelligence!

The result was a selectively colourised design that merges the shape of a human head with internal elements of a circuit board with a computer chip that displays the public seal of the Republic of Chad.

And to show that there was at least some human involved, each coin features a gorgeous, antiqued finish that accentuates the intricate design.

Antique finishes like this are typically applied by hand, which means that no two coins are exactly alike.

Struck in two ounces of highly pure 99.9% fine silver, both sides of the coin have been created utilizing AI and its idea of what a shaped silver coin should look like.

According to AI experts, Artificial intelligence could pose a risk of extinction to humanity on the scale of nuclear war or pandemics, and mitigating that risk should be a “global priority.”
