200th Anniversary of the First Passenger Train in Gibraltar:

2025 marks 200 years since the first passenger steam train began its journey, an innovation that transformed travel and industry worldwide. 

To commemorate this landmark in railway history og Gibraltar, a new 50 pence coin has been brought out by the Gibraltar National Mint (GNM). 

This official coin celebrates the bicentenary of passenger steam rail travel and is now available for collectors and enthusiasts alike. It is a fitting tribute to one of the most significant milestones in transport history.

The Reverse of the 50 Pence Cupro-nickel Coin shows an early steam engine with its driver standing alongside on the side. 

The Obverse of the 50 Pence Cupro-nickel Coin features the Gibraltar Coat of Arms accompanied by the inscription Charles III - King of Gibraltar, the denomination and year 2025. 

Note: Each commemorative coin is in uncirculated condition and has been minted and packed in sealed bags of 50.
