To celebrate this milestone, the Royal Dutch Mint is releasing a special Medal in Coincard.

The Medal perfectly fits the appearance of the network and also the Coincard, designed by the Royal Dutch Mint, celebrates the anniversary in a fitting way.
The Discovery Logo is on the obverse and on the reverse year in which the network was founded: 1985.
A global phenomenon:
Discovery Channel was founded 40 years ago, in 1985. What started as a modest channel focused primarily on educational programming slowly evolved into a well-known brand with many globally recognised shows. For four decades, Discovery has been inspiring generations with stories from all over the world – and beyond!
The Coin Design:
The Obverse of the 40 Years Discovery Medal in Coincard, is a beautiful way to celebrate this anniversary. The design features an astronaut seen in space, with on the bottom right Earth and on top in the middle the planet Saturn.
Also the text “Discovery Channel” is visible, this is a reference to the year the network was founded.
The medal is placed in a beautifully designed coincard that reflects the festive nature of the occasion: the front proudly features the 40 years Discovery logo.
